Deltas' House Renga

starlit night
the air cools
my sunburnt skin

KK

long day in the sun
pool

SS

relaxing in the water
lessens the heat
please stop splashing

PS

annoying children
I'll never have

KK

poolside
watching the reflection
of the moon

SS

my friends and I
journaling by the water

PS

writing all the things
that can't be said . . .
thinking of you

KK

wishing for those summer nights
thinking out loud

IG

missing your smile
the sound of your laugh
the way you looked at me

PS

last year's break up
still lingers on my mind

KK

the fight we had
and the tears we shed,
the things I wish we never said

IG

if only I could take it
back, she wouldn't be with you

PS

wishing on a shooting star
I stare at the moon
wanting you

KK

if only my wish could come true
I'd be so much better to you

IG

is it bad to ask
for another chance,
or would I be selfish

PS

wishful thinking . . .
only intentions for myself

KK

moonlight on the blossoms
reminding me of our first kiss,
I yearn for those memories

IG

It's hard to move on
when I still love you

PS

trying to move on
I find pieces of you
in everyone

KK

I hear your laughter everywhere
and remember the happiness
we shared

IG

You and I might be
over, but what we
had stays with me

PS

the old sweatshirt
reminds me of the past

KK

a sweatshirt is snug,
hugging me softly,
and begs to be loved

IG

a pair of tennis shoes
the feeling of adventure

PS

walking among trees
breathing in
the crisp mountain air

KK

my soul feels refreshed,
and reborn in the moonshine

IG

my heart starts
pounding, a wild
bear appears

PS

heart pounding
I back away slowly

KK

moonlight sparkles on his teeth
he stands tall and proud
king of the night

IG

catching his eye,
he backs away slowly

PS

returning to camp
I sit by the fire
closing my eyes

KK

the fire tickles my skin,
my body relaxes

IG

sparks begin dying
smoke wafting away
finally content

PS

peace at night
I feel her spirit

KK

wind tugs my hair
beckoning me to join, to dance
among the cherry blossoms

IG

Where will I be tomorrow
my voice echoes in the dark

Thank you to my sisters for gathering around the table and diving into a creative word of haiku temporarily with me. This haiku renga was done in a round robin style, authors cited by initials. ~Kendall Kott
