Silent Streets

winter night
silent streets
occupied with snow

(AK)

the small boy
makes snowballs

(FR)

in the distance
ice-capped mountains
silently gazing

(AK)

the hunter waits
as the fawn passes by

(FR)

hazy moon
slowly becoming engulfed
by the clouds

(AK)

spring rain
slowly begins to fall

(FR)

alone in the park
bristle of leaves
a shadow

(AK)

the squirrel emerges
after a long hibernation

(FR)

morning stretch
I hear the cracks
from yesterday's hike

(AK)

alone in my kitchen
I notice a grey hair

(FR)

looking through old photos
we laugh
at our former wardrobes

(AK)

the fire crackles
sirens in the driveway

(FR)

under the waxing crescent
the smoke
soars to the stars

(AK)

mixing in the night
the painter's canvas

(FR)

sunrise
the sky becomes
engulfed with light

(AK)

the widow works
peacefully in her garden

(FR)

summer wind
we have a picnic
beneath the cherry blossoms

(AK)

a perfect blue sky
interrupted by one lone cloud

(FR)

afternoon rain
you tell me the news
you're pregnant

(FR)

fourteen and curious
a young father

(AK)

leaves begin to fall
the pressure
becomes too much

(FR)

taking your own life
my love is lost

(AK)

crisp autumn air
I lay one single rose
atop your casket

(FR)

lifeless trees
resemble my inner self

(AK)

in the mourning
I still pour
two cups of coffee

(FR)

silent woods
a pinecone falls

(AK)

the tea kettle whistles
at the door
a flash from the past

(FR)

out the window
the snow falls

(AK)

alone in the city
the boy yearns
for the country moon

(FR)

midst of the blizzard
the world becomes white

(AK)

under the covers
the young boy
pretends to be asleep

(FR)

jingle of the bells
the cookies disappear

(AK)

Christmas morning—
your present remains
under the tree

(FR)

ham dinner
we eat until we can't

(AK)

celebrating a New Year
the smell of cherry blossoms fills my memories

(FR)

the ball drops
my first year without you

(AK)
