Spring Madness

The spring sun shines
Onto the forest floor
Tiny hiding fungus

KF

Shit—
I can't find them

HA

I search and search
With no luck . . .
Keys jingle in his hand

AF

I run to the car
And slam the pedal

SF

The moon over my head
Highway under my feet
Sweet freedom

KF

My brain writes it's own book
Song lyrics for the road

HA

Nostalgia strikes
Alan Jackson sings
A lovely verse.

AF

Guitar strings ring
Notes of love

SF

Full of frustration and anger
My fingers fumble all around
Learning to play guitar

KF

The strings break
As I smash the instrument

HA

Hundreds of dollars
In hundreds of pieces
Mother's disappointment

AF

I hang my head
As her words strike

SF

News rises like the moon
Through the tiny town
Love's final ember

KF

I sit and cry
Watching the door close

HA

The doctor leaves
Having gave us the news
Tears of joy

AF

Remission
One word, hundreds of tears

SF

Cherry blossoms welcome
The new spring.
New hope is birthed.

KF

Spring baby
The newborn stares at lilies

HA

Curiosity killed the cat
The infant is allergic
To flowers

AF

He cries as the
Needle pierces his skin

SF

Wisdom removal
The boy closes his eyes as
The dentist begins

KF

The nurse watches
As her lover performs surgery

HA

Her husband lies
In the operating chair
Professional affair

AF

He awakes to find
The couple kissing

SF

He longs to know
Love like that
Spontaneous affection

KF

Turning the corner
He walks into his old flame

HA

A spark ignites
Contact rekindles
An old flame

AF

The camper stirs
Last nights ash

SF

The full moon sinks
into the babbling river
Skinny dip

KF

Tan cheeks reflect
The white moonlight

HA

Her rosy cheeks
Warm against
His lips

AF

Red lips meet
Red lust

SF

He pulls her in
And kisses her collar
Swirling desire

KF

Thinking of his taste
She sinks into his warmth

HA

He plucks a cherry blossom
And weaves it through her hair
Beauty complimenting beauty

AF

The cherry blossom's smell
Fills the bedroom

My family, girlfriend, and myself were mushroom hunting and we sat down to do this kasen-renga.
