Spring Showers

Allyson Isenhower
The title of my collection is Spring Showers for several reasons. Spring is my favorite season because of the blooming flowers and the spring time rains. Spring showers signify the washing away of the darker times and the colder weather and the beginning of a time of life and development. It can also signify a fresh start. Many haiku are open ended and are interpreted differently by each reader. The meaning of spring showers could be interpreted differently by each reader as well.
Spring showers is also the beginning line of what I would consider my signature haiku. This haiku has a very significant meaning to me as it is about a family member that passed just before the spring.
Writing haiku is something relatively new to me. However, it is an excellent way for me to express the world the way I see it. It is also a great way to express feelings that otherwise may be hard to express. The inspiration for many of my haiku come from events that have had a significant impact on me. Others are composed in the spur of the moment. I hope that my haiku inspire readers to create their own and continue the haiku traditions.
