Mini Collection of Haiku

by
Jesal Sheth

Haiku, a form of Japanese poetry, is considered to be the shortest literary form around. Haiku in English is a very short poem in the English language, following to a greater or lesser extent the form and style of the Japanese haiku. “Jesal’s Mini Collection of Haiku” introduces some of her limited and favorite haikus. She chose these haikus because these were some of her best ones yet written.

Chanel, Prada, Gucci
I notice her
everyday

shades of pink
flamingo, rouge, fuschia
pick one only . . .

floating breakfast
you find me by the pool
on a unicorn tube

daytime is mine
nighttime is yours
midnight is ours

red wine and cheesecakes
we dine in together
on the roof

from the empty rooftop
bright city lights
we dance

shihtzu puppies
the only reason
I am friends with her

hands off
I am for show
not for sale

his face
makes a room full of adults
speak puppy

ugly some days
cute some days
ego stays on Kanye level

three of us on the sled
quarrelling with each other
whoops!
