CUT • ADD • REPLACE • REARRANGE

ice rink . . .
couples laughing
as they fall

a lonesome guitar
enjoying
my attention

leaving the classroom
feeling of failure
an email revealing that I've passed

bell rings for recess
children on the playground     while he
kicks rocks

stacked books on night stand
chapters on chapters
I've never read

the children
roam the campus sidewalks
i envy their nonchalant laughter

still I stand
here
without your voice

learning
how to appreciate
ramen noodles

kiss me one last time
call my name
thin red line

people looking down
all the time
at their phones

bells ring
horses trot
downtown shines with lights

woolen mittens
frozen tree branches
skating down the way

alone in the cold
the only salvation
is full

beer cans
found
months later

fire in the chimney
wrapped in a blanket
smell of pine

a movie ticket stub
a memory
i'm too scared to throw away
