Silence Haiku

Seeing people everywehre
I find it hard
not to talk

Spring peace
students quiet
noise only from construction

Hushed voices
unnoticed sounds
suddnely heard

Words try to escape
my mouth
frustration!

The leaves
crackle
across the pavement

Group gathered
personal reflection
wind answers back

peaceful thoughts
broken
by her heels

We smile and laugh
as we try
to communicate

Quiet Thoughts

the graveyard
spring morning
bird sits alone on a stone

soothing silence
calms the soul
peace

quiet day
cool spring breezes
chill the morning air

falling brown leaves
tumble across
the brick cobblestone

sounds of mind
sounds of body
only!

morning sun
warms the girls
alone in their thoughts

Not Even the Hum

grief-stricken,
they walk by twos without a word

not answering,
he revealed volumes

reading under the still maple
not even the hum
of an air conditioner

unable to concentrate
silent tears

fighting for what they believe
no hint of violence no fear

just the look--
she knows
he wants her

And Spring Crept IN
Day of Silence Rengay

Creative flow disrupted
Beautiful day
Beckons

In the blue sky
Duties forgotten

Popping crackle
Leaves race
Around my feet

Dark and light
Stair shadows

Soft chirps
One bird
Leave-less tree

Like fallen leaves

one purple spot-
three crocus buds
under the oak

spring breeze
hair blown
like fallen leaves

sun's warmth on my forehead
everything silent
but the wind

A robin hops
Softly
Searching for food

Pine cones
Suspended
cool morning breeze

        T
        R
        E
up a E
onetwo squirrels

Empty Courtyard

warm spring day
a cold wind
empty courtyard

          yellowed grass, leaves
          rustle across

Listen!
to the whispering
of the world

          tumbling leaves
          voiceless students

can you hear it?
the silence is deafening

          whispering changes
          deep cry
          breaks this "peace"
