Pink Elephant

by
Michelle Dixson

Introduction:

the haiku you are about to read have been written in the beginning of my second year of college. things are easier and more difficult now. i think my haiku shows how i have changed.

this past semester i have gotten a job as a manager, took too many classes, and created some very close relationships.

i also stopped drinking caffeine (i didn’t stop eating chocolate though : ).

with this warning, read on, dear reader, and experience some of my thoughts. may it bring thoughts to you.

pink elephant:
fighting
against restless nights

tippy toe
on his toes
father-daughter dance

soon-to-be-mother-in-law
the chicken pot pie
needs salt

screaming girl
shooting around the corner
long-legged rooster

hard workout
the breeze
in my hair

faded pillowcases
Scooby and the Rugrats
cuddle

un-carved pumpkin
after Halloween
un-smashed

clumsiness
up the steps
…didn’t happen

on the bench
the bronze man reads…
new sunglasses

tying a tie
with the three stooges
no one knows how

Sleeping pill

crunching chips
with a tang
under the covers

crumbs in the bed
vacuum humming

clothes sprawled
mixed
pencils and paper

paper wings
for dreams to fly

slushy white
the bird
disappears
