Selected Haiku
by

Aubrey Ryan

Haiku has been a very difficult art form me to work on this semester. I have, in the past, enjoyed working on longer poems and metaphors, so this bas been a major change.

I have acquired an immense amount of rspect for this genre and those who have the ability to master it. I know that my experience with haiku will help me greatly with my own poetry.

red hair
cut short
I watch her neck

the acquarium
seals playing
an article on oil slicks

long drive
looking for hawks
on telephone poles

white farm house
a tractor tire
the perfect swing

cleaning out the spare room
under overalls
a swollen belly

quiet morning
coffee perks
orange cat stretches

she brushes her hair
I watch
behind my book
