Haiku Seeking Edits & Response 1

Haiku Writing Roundtable--Haiku Attempts 1, Fall 2005

A Man's Best Friend

I had a dog before...
Flooded streets
... Mardi Gras is over

yesterday's euthanasia
the dishes and litter box
already gone

in grandma's house
checking each room
for the dead cat

Spontaneous choreography
With my sweetie and new shoes.
Who cares in the supermarket!

Light in the window
Lazy on a sunday morning
Only you and me

silence of the wilderness
broken—
laughs of drunken fishermen

air conditioning
I place my head
on the desk

jaded bliss
anticipating the moment
now lost

jaded bliss
deep inside and out
completely drained

Starry clear skies
A soothing place far away
Peaceful as can be

A rough day
A soothing place called home
Finally, peace at last

running up the hill
wet red ferns
slapping my thighs

the buddhist monk
haggling with my mom
over the bhagavad gita

Summer's sunlight
A cool wind blows
Freshly cut grass

Rain falling into bed
of the pick-up truck where
we see children wet, Smiling

A sea sunrise
Hook sinks, bobber floats there
A sea of burning glass
