Everything is Pixilated

by
John Wright

The following haiku were chosen from my works by a friend of mine, Heidi Schmitt. I asked her to pick the pieces that she could identify the most with, and that was one of my major goals while writing my haiku. We all lead different lives, but there are experiences and emotions that we can all relate to and identify with. From waking up to the soft light of a new day, to the depression caused by change, to the stress that we feel internally without a proper way to express it, we all share these moments which can be categorized as life experiences. These haiku are all easily relatable, and many, I’m sure, will remind you of experiences in your own past. After reading these haiku, we will have shared a small bond, and the human experience will grow.

a stream of light
filters through the window
dancing with the shadows

fallen leaves…
a stretch
and the day begins

my old couch...
I say goodbye
to the ass-groove.

deep sadness—
her hair
smells different

turkey on the table
the broken family
finally reunites

with a little help
I feel fine—
we can work it out

nothing slows me
as I trudge to my bed—
class is over
