Roundtable Haiku • Millikin University, Fall 2010
One Chance on the hood of his car filling with passengers the whole world Can a girl have dreams? one thing and her world love waits, they tell her |
winter white sky icy wind mist heart-shaped bed crickets chirping loudly robin’s egg sky white hospital room |
cracked glasses friends by his side dim light shadows pass by— blue night an unspoken bond smoke break |
Tragedy cocktail party as he holds onto unwashed clothing as in the mirror a chill night the bottle of pills |
Daydream spring breeze blankets blowing the shapes old pond daydreaming warm lemonade |
Moonlight Sonata the moonlight a sparkling tear a tear soaked blouse morning sun he gathers his clothes he sets the table a tattered love note from the open window moonlight reflects cold silver |
