empty wooden swing
a single tulip
tall above the grass

(Adult 1st Place, Global Haiku Contest)

young girl on daddy’s lap
             4 hands
    on the steering wheel

old wooden watchtower
   sun beating down
      on his guitar

  

 

hostess ding dong
in dad’s lunch box
child-size bite missing

       folded white paper
beneath the windshield wiper
            his goodbye

  

 

    substitute teacher’s
                back turned
paper airplane soaring
