face down—
the child embraces
the pile of leaves

Sunday morning—
father and child
asleep under the newspaper

behind the tree,
small hands
peeling an orange

crayon portrait—
on daddy’s face
a frown

winter kiss
my hands
under your sweater

grandma’s class ring—
children’s fingers
over the inscribed date

grandma’s funeral reception
the old porch swing
vacant
