standing still
face downcast
praying for the right words

Jane Daniels

deft fingers on wood
a horrible solo,
but getting better

down by the river
tail lights fade
into the darkness

the bullfrog sings
she jumps
feet first

Alisha Burgett

a cloud floats
longing for neighbors
to throw one last bang

Zack Ploen

weeding the strawberry patch
the dog pulls on a twig
the cat rolls in the dirt

Jane Daniels

the waves crash in
a freight train
in the night

Alisha Burgett

door shuts
leaving summer
outside

Jane Daniels

cuddled in bed
the tiny body
the smell of a newborn

Whitney Edmonson

at the edge of the
woods
a statue

Jennifer Rose

the melody begins
their eyes lock
for the first time

Alisha Burgett

rumble rattle
thud
blinking hazard lights

Jane Daniels

laid to rest
her lifeless body
still beautiful

Whitney Edmonson

the intense thrill gone
the soda bottle
failed to fizz

I hear the crowd
I cannot see the flags
keep moving

Jane Daniels

tears stream down
her aging face
the music plays

Alisha Burgett

he walks
stone by stone
to find a familiar name

Jennifer Rose
