Tuesday Starting

restless night
I come downstairs
my father makes fried eggs

LSC

Sitting at the table
waiting for a plate

SM

I can hear
the eggs
crackling

MD

I struggle to keep
my eyes open

HL

middle of the night
moonbeams filter
through the blinds

LSC

There's so much work to do
in three hours when my day begins

SM

coffee maker brewing
Dad hums
while flipping eggs

MD

little brother
starts his paper route

HL

wool scarf wound
around his face
snow flurries

LSC

watching snowflakes disappear
as they fall

SM

yellow snow
where the dog peed
don't eat it

MD

birds awakening
their songs fill the air

HL

paper route done
the sun replaces the moon
as a new day dawns

LSC

People start shuffling
the birds wake up

SM

I roll over
he smiles at me
what bright eyes

MD

reluctantly, he leaves
to go get the paper

HL

the wnd carries
cherry blossom petals
down the brick street

LSC

Everyone travels that direction
Tuesday is starting
