Skipping Stones

skipping stones
counting the ripples
out loud

keeping one hand free
to hold your hand

he pulls me into
his warm embrace
slowly breathing

no more attempts
at breaking my record

Hard to count
the number of ripples
with only the moonlight

His voice is like music
to my ears

The music
of nature
surrounds us

holding me
we begin to dance

twirling like a princess
I fall in
the grass

laughing together
stiches in my sides

the clouds shift
a ray of sun
on her face

encompassed in son’s warmth
grass’s fingers tickle mine

we lay together
until the moon
joins us

the three of us
smiling

we gaze at each other
desperate looks
in our eyes

the aroma of mowed grass
and lemonade

cherry blossom smell
overtakes them all
it relaxes my body

grandma and grandpa
snoring together
