in pace of my steps

the daughter 
with pruned fingers

a tune I didn't choose

the kid's table
in their late 20s

skin, bones, gristle
unchoice cuts
make up fragrant broth

party of dust bunnies

the credenza

empty couch 
he chooses

petrichor—
streetlamp reflected

the lone crane

the words in my head
