1

in a silent bedroom
holding an old pillow
cars drive by

2

small cemetery
with no walking path
are they missed?

3

two cats of my own
a quick trill
from the old brown piano

4

Saturday morning dew
little birds
chatting in a tree

5

a starry night
under streetlights
the train stands still

6

walking past you
i pretend
we are strangers

7

a cracking branch, big round eyes
the clearing belongs
to the deer

8

hand in mine
the other on her cane
no longer young

9

father and sons
play until dark
driveway basketball court

10

bass thumping
headlights shine at 2 a.m.
we round the drive-thru

11

a biting breeze
and the pattering of paws
star light star bright

12

turning the corner
we squint
into the setting sun

13

pumpkin muffins
on a picnic blanket
runaway squirrels

14

clouds of smoke
the light crackle
of burning leaves

15

my tennis shoes drag
on the gravel road
dogs barking in the distance

16

the sky goes dark
with rain clouds
we dance peacefully

17

my oar plunges the dark mirror
sending rippling images
of me

18

sweaty palms
on the monkey bars
a helping hand

19

the sound of our footsteps
my dog barks
at a squirrel

20

cold metal chair,
a cup of water, and
a two-way mirror

21

robotucally, fingres type
like badly playsd paino
i cnat type

22

walking through graveyards
a collection of memories
Memorial day draws long

23

i nervously knock
i hear heavy footsteps
she opens it with a smile

24

laughs and giggles
accompany
empty wallets

25

birds soaring
never wandering
in formation, together

26

students walk leisurely
through the sun
unknown schedules

27

ventilation system
the incessant
yet necessary drone

28

the same songs
repeat
to help stay awake

29

wind brushes her hair
she doesn’t care
anymore

30

birds calling
my name
whispers in the wind

31

bumpy driveway
over cracked concrete
my rusted car

32

a thrifted skirt
I wonder who
loved it before me

33

squirrel perched
contemplating
his next move

34

a strong breeze
my hair sticks
onto my lipgloss

35

trains in the clouds
I can hear
the whistle

36

we sit together
our time is up
I go back inside

37

flying in and out
like fireflies
he has always been there

38

end of the driveway
a lone puddle
tells of an old storm

39

a well-loved playhouse
rots away in the backyard
but still stands

40

no rules
ice cream for dinner
grandparents

41

Mickey Mouse pancakes
a sizzle burns my nose
Dad swoops in

42

the neighbor’s sprinklers
tirelessly work away
at the rain’s job

43

soft flowers
a step
in the right direction

44

evening downpour
puddle jumping
let’s make puddle angels

45

too much caffeine
every day
I’m still tired

46

oh good
my rights are gone.
class tomorrow

47

sweater weather
just a sip of chai
and pumpkin swirl

48

alone in the yard
surrounded by only my toys
serenity

49

alone in the woods
back where you began
back in the car

50

a comforting hug
no longer
a step away

51

pedestrians wait
cars don't stop
have you no decency

52

we fold clothes in unison
laughing all afternoon,
this is home

53

silver moon
it lights my way
to a dark place

54

ex on the sidelines
of the soccer field
eye darts

55

jar of peppermint
bright smile with open arms
gone, yet still so near

56

his children laugh
as they play in the yard
burgers grilling

57

dim streetlights
on a long country road
a glimpse of his burial site
