A See-Through Mirror

by
Ridge Batchelor

This collection of haiku includes a lot of the favorite haiku I have written over the course of a semester. The title, A See-Through Mirror, was something I came up with that I like a lot. A see-through mirror is very similar to a window. By reading these haiku, you are getting a window into my life, but these haiku are also applicable to your life. You can see yourself in them, apply them to your own life. That is where the mirror part comes in. While putting this collection together, I chose haiku that contained deeper meanings, so I implore the reader to sit and think about each haiku, and how it applies to their own life. I hope you enjoy the collection of some of my very best haiku.

her dress
matches my tie
my dad drops us off

not long enough
she licks my hand
for the last time

fresh snow
we take forever
to shovel the driveway

a stranger
I wonder what
their life is like

red or green
i pick
the biggest apples

grandma knits
another sweater
i wont wear

my phone lights up
the dreaded message
can we talk?

dancing and singing
not caring
how I look
