Ordinary Days

by
Gavin Dobson

These haiku offer a glimpse into my headspace while I was writing them. I based each one on real events and experiences from my life, using those moments to fuel my creativity. The poems touch on being with friends, family, and lovers, as well as small events from my everyday life—hence the title Ordinary Days. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.

rubber ducky
stares at me
longing for a bath

overcast day
under the gazebo
first kiss

the parade
of sailors coming home
waiting for dad

quick glance
empty field
houses built soon

salty mist breeze
vanishing tide
gone like a memory

yellow bus
the smell of leather seats
school starts again

endless laps
there and back
mental clarity

geeked on my
star wars
couch
