This one is funny because many women do not like video games in general. This particular one has taken men by storm. Now instead of spending time with her and making memories they chose a game. They question their love for them because they are choosing a game over quality time with one another. Christian Zenon, January 2019

These two were an interesting pair because they actually could be the same story. Two people intertwined, as I look at them, but not looking back they seem too far into each other. I think crowded subway should have won this battle because the image is more clear to me and it could have more than one interpretation. The visuals did a lot more for me in this one than the other. Conner Cloney, January 2019

This was my favorite pair because it plays with vision. In the first one we see eyes being consumed by lovers holding hands. It is a very intimate moment between these two people and anyone who looks at then can tell they are deeply in love. The second haiku is about someone in love, admiring a person across the room. All they want is to have the connection like the people in the first haiku have. Kailey Lyons, January 2019

This is one that can be taken as a sibling argument. The older brother fights the younger one and he ends up winning the fight. But in the end he has him cover up how bruise so the parents don’t see or else he’s in trouble. Or this can be a couple arguing and one takes it too far and they tell the other to cover up the evidence so others will not see. Christian Zenon, January 2019

This haiku was hilarious because I instantly thought about someone sleeping next to someone that don’t want to be with or don’t like. I like the way it was set up as well. Von Johnson, January 2019

I really enjoyed both of these because we all feel a sense of loss at some point in our lives over a love that has been lost.  We have all felt alone at some time or dismissed or rejected after a kiss.  In the second one, it sounds almost like the girl of the poem has died and that is why it will only be in the memory forever.  There is no room for hope here at all.  Very sad. Toni Macon, January 2019

These Haiku undoubtedly fit together. The woman in these are both trapped, seemingly victim of domestic violence or emotional abuse. The sense of helplessness radiates within these words. Both begin with a lower case i, as if he belittles her so much that she does not deserve the capitol. The analogy in the second haiku is powerful, a story all in its own. While reading I feel the chills and goosebumps that correlate along with it. The first Haiku runs together so well, Dr. B was right, it almost comes off the tongue as a nursery rhyme. The sing song tempo reminds me of the man mocking the woman for being so powerless. Maggie Comerford, January 2019

I chose my own haiku because I could personally relate to it with being a situation like this before but the roles were switched. I got pulled off on. I just replay everything in my head that happen that to the start of the argument til the burning of the rubber. Von Johnson, January 2019

This match is absolutely perfect in my mind. To start the story, he puts out his cigarettes on her arms showing that he doesn't care for her well-being. Then, you add the second haiku's context. The smoke from his last cigarette is drifting into the air, and you get the whole image that he once loved her. He loved her at one time and now it has drifted away with the smoke from his cigarette. Alex Collins, January 2019
