a morning walk
cures everything
instant serotonin

unmade bed
unwashed hair
out of meds

rain drops
pass the rocks
now we have wet socks

around the block
when will we be done
watch the clock

where will we end up
on this adventure
just me and my pup

a baby duck
nuzzles up
to its mother

7

going to work
everyday
repeat repeat repeat

get back in line . . .
building character
over time

9

frozen like the surface
God not the only one
walking on water

early morning,
team eating
end of the night celebrating

i sat in the closet
nearly two decades
it was time to come out

12

riding a tricycle
no more training wheels
riding a bicycle

overthinking
anxiety
tears run down her face

14

we score touchdowns
and make game-changing plays
still of the drawing board

blue eyed boy
lost his
rose colored glasses

16

same plays, new records
run it till they stop it,
no limits

scared of who I will
become . . . lonely
attachment to others

so much to do
do little time
scurry

late-night swim
moist grass
muddies the water

20

lemons, lemons
no recipe
to make lemonade

green grass
white bases
chasing hits or butterflies

it’s been months
yet no time has passed
we laugh and cry

“Mom, watch this”
I hear it 101 times a day
not complaining

friend or foe
a constant battle
on the totem pole

9 am
the birds are singing
my favorite song

bright sun
reddened skins
brings freckles to the surface

when you list the things you love,
include yourself
and don't be last

hill after hill
tree after tree
I feel free

walking up
walking down
hills

bugs swirling
sweat dripping
                    . . . gross

looking for my seat
in front of the stage
starting soon

high hair
really tan
feels like early ’90s

second act
much darker
see all the bugs

Garden of Gethsemane

brick path
soil covered shoes
ferns lined up, two by two

green grated cart
overflowing vegetation
one wonky wheel

tickling her toes
wet grass stuck to
souls of her feet
