Selected Haiku

blinding lights
rattling windows
rainbow appears

new shoes
restless feet under the desk
expanding minds

scrubbing floors
sore knees and back
new toys for her grandson

tiny shoes by the door
tugs on your shirt
butterfly kisses
everyone snuggled in bed

dark woods at night
only a sack to hold
grandpa smiles
as he goes to chase snipes

children all nestled in bed
candles burn on
mom's work is never done

night's sweet silence
broken by a child’s cry
old rocking chair creaks

hot summer sun
muscles start to get weak
no summit in sight
