Guise's Guide to Goodness

by
Josh Guise

When I first signed up for this haiku class, I did not know what to expect. I have learned how to share my inner thoughts using the haiku method. I also learned that my poetry can help other people, no matter if the haiku is good or bad. Dr. Brooks' class has allowed me to discover a side of me that was locked up during my childhood. The class allowed me to explore my inner beliefs and thoughts.

Josh's haiku have a flair for nature and romance. I am very impressed by his outlook on life through this poetry class. Somewhere deep in Josh's soul there are soft and beautiful thoughts that have yet to be translated into ACTION, The poetry class might be the vehicle that unlocks the creative side of Josh.

waiting to make love
when we are leaving
car out of gas

         The family reunion

The forth of July
with Clear sky’s
and a full moon

         The blue ocean with
         heavy waves in the sea

The ship sails
as the band plays
it’s dinner time

The first dance
they all join in
the electric slide

         The beach with white sands
         the barbecue cook out

Kisses and hugs
everyone goes their
separate ways

a quiet night, he writes his first haiku

church bells ring
choir sings
a white Christmas

fresh scent of rain
under the fireplace
one touch from his lips

birds sing
before the sunset
the first kiss

on new year's day
a jazz parade
one touch cured me

         Wedding Reception

short weekend
high grass and limped flowers
long trip

         bright sun
         a toast with white wine

cool nights
laughter in the air
jazz playing

saturday night
we watched the stars
the last kiss

         tired feet and secret thoughts
         journey home

quiet night
no one’s home
fast asleep
