grandpa wants to go in

getting baptized
so anxious
she waves to her family

patiently waiting
the last of the snow melts
the swing set

white sand & crashing waves
her grandmother
shapes her into a mermaid

sunny day
child hands grandmother
another shell for her pail

top quarter champion

bottom half champion

bottom quarter champion

my children
coming into puberty
I try to remember my first love

like the winter snow
my grandmother’s thoughts
vanished in spring

summer rain
watching the kids
wishing for their energy
