getting baptized

Penny McCullough

This Haiku brings back fond memories of my own children getting baptized. I remember as each of them stepped into the clear water, they immediately scanned the congregation looking for their father and me. As soon as they spotted us, their faces lit up with big smiles. You could see that they were excited, nervous, and anxious all at the same time. This was a big step in their young lives and I felt just as excited and anxious for them. My desire was for them to truly grasp and understand they step they were taking in their young lives. I smiled back at them in encouragement as our pastor prayed over them and prepared to dunk them underwater. Again, as they came up out of the water, they immediately looked for us as if to ask, ”Did you see me”? What a precious memory for each child and family! Tammy
