A Small Town Girl

by
Erica McDonald

In the short time of haiku study I have become aware of how proud I am of my roots, and where my heart is. My collection is from what I know and love. It is from my favorite memories and the life I love now. I hope that after reading you will feel right at home too!

To my family—whom has helped to make me a true small town girl. I love you. –Erica

morning breeze
her coffee
sputters in the kitchen

sandy beach
my toes
dancing to the towel

mini tornado
I water the flowers
chasing my sunhat

favorite holey jeans
I certainly can't wear
on Sundays

tattered blanket
wipes tears
and protects from monsters

lunchtime
the old radio
Elvis

cookout
talking in the kitchen
to steal a bite

Christmas Eve
pine needles
glistening in powder
