haiku

by
Cynthia Jones

At the beginning of my Global Haiku course I must say I was a little skeptical of what I was walking into. Not knowing anything about haiku, I heard my first haiku and laughed like "what!" I did not have a clue what the person was talking about are why it was worded the way it was. I read my next haiku and immediately understood and most of all I liked it.

I would consider myself an emotional haiku writer who goes off life events as they have happen and have happened in the close past. I enjoy haiku that tell a small story in 3 lines or less. This is what amazes me about haiku is that you do not have to write a lot to say a lot. I have giving you my examples of haiku and with my haiku you can definitely tell your own story.

the sand settles
. . . Man down

walking through the mud
hope calls her name
feet feel the warm sand

the beat up Ford
memories
built to last

Mom's wedding ring
missing a small diamond
. . . generations

a little overweight
he sees my personality
he sees me

Grandpa hat
falls over the boy face
pictures of the past
