My Haiku Collection

by
Sherie Baker

My haiku are a part of me. As I sit here and write I am flooded with emotions; the innocence of a child, trying times as a young adult and losing loved ones. Some are filled with laughter and some are filled with sadness. However, each Haiku is a reflection of all the experiences and emotions that played a major part in my life. As a reader I hope you are able to enjoy my writings; maybe something I wrote is allowing you to reflect on your memories. Good or bad they make us who we are today.

Sit back and enjoy the ride.

red and white suite
the jolly old man resembles
Grandpa?!

the needle skips
replaying her favorite part of the song
makin' love with each other, ah-ah

opening the chest
she slips into the vintage wedding dress
. . . practicing "I DO"

she takes another puff
storm clouds rolling in
loud sirens

skinny dipping
cold murky lake water
bubbles arise

with tears falling
she whispers
. . . I'm pregnant

sitting on the floor
they study the game plan
preparation for Black Friday

every night she wonders
. . . is that a grizzley bear
then rolls over

blustery winds
she remembers her past
loneliness
