the soldier looks
for a missing friend
a tear on his cheek

boy sits waiting
as Mom ties up his boots
sleds outside

triceps burning
muscles tired from work
one more rep

biceps pump perfect
veins running the
length of arm

broken into truck
can't be mad
just a piece of property

mist rising
off the lake
geese fly over
