Haiku to Edit 1

Global Haiku • Millikin University • Spring 2010

clear and thick
the ice supports
my fall

dangerous storm
we hide for cover
find love

snowfall in the forest
a white blanket covers
sleeping trees

worn ski tracks
many powdery paths
fading quickly

playground gym
catching snowflakes
on her tongue

snow beneath my shoes
feel it through my soles
no boots

snowfall seizes
the still silence succeeds
to sedate me

snow day
building a snowman in the backyard
alone

tangled ice skates
her sprawled out body
illuminated in the rink

quiet landings
snowflakes gather
in the night

sizzling square patties
grand opening
makes the cold wait hotter

sunshine
passes away
replaced by storm clouds

backyard swing
red spot
on a cheek
