Coronavirus Ginko

soft fur
soft purr
hair in my mouth

slink down the stairs
only interested
in food

the smell of smoke
a bonfire
for one

2 squirrels
chasing each other
definitely not social distancing

splashes of yellow
in a field of gray
daffodils

wall
covered in posters
my personality

the sun sets
on my world
and theirs

confinement
from balcony to balcony
grandmothers' conversation

this morning again
it rains
talk about life

from afar
a wave
appears as a hug

I look up
dazzled
what it's like to be a bird

a bench, hills, flowers
sunlight
heating my back

crisp cool air
used to calm me
nothing works anymore

only me
wait . . .
a little fly passes by

is it still
Groundhog day?
coronavirus news

my dog sits down
looking at me with plea
our third walk today

thunder rumbles
on our short walk . . .
rushing to get home

looking up at the sky
the clouds
morph into my dreams

little tyke
leans down to smell a flower
as tall as he is

pausing my music
to cross the street
a stranger in the distance

the dog
waving her happy flag
tail straight up

the sun
frying me
and my depression

open window
voices bounce between our houses
social distancing

backyard magnolia
its pink petals
we blush together

old baseball mitt
out to play.
praying it isn't a home for spiders

marble floor
reflecting lights
her dance floor

allergy season
I swear
I'm not sick

a walk
with myself
I question everything

open gate
to the neighbor's house
I never see

she smiles with
just her eyes now
new reality

busy bee
brushes past me
out of breath

sniff . . . sniff . . .
stop
new puppy

snowing
in April?
I pull up my collar

cold breeze
the only thing i’ve felt
. . . in a month

kids playing
in the street
six feet apart

fresh air
produced by local trees
I am not used to

a long walk
in the brisk air
the mind wanders long

a walk at sunrise
warmth touches
on a chilly spring day

right then left
a skip
change the sync of our feet

skipping stones
nesting geese
watching carefully

spring breeze
the scent of wildflowers
lull me to sleep

open field
a skeleton
of the summer crops

mail man
with a mask on
new normal

I wonder
if the birds have any idea
what's going on

pear blossoms
*squint*
cherry blossoms

biking
I pass my neighbor
a silent wave

grandpa's farm
a "for sale" sign
in the front yard

across the empty field
playground
yellow caution tape

here comes
the rainstorm
