1

snowflakes
I'm learning
to find my warmth

2

tiny paws in the snow
the dogs decide
it was a bad idea

3

doors shut behind me
a new room
a new home

4

paws under the door
scratching to get in
sit with me for a second

5

burnout
snowflakes quiver
on my mittens

6

coffee on a
snow day
you call to say hi

7

medicial beeps
in a quiet room
endlessly empty

8

chasing through
the forests of dreams
blindfolded

9

happy home
don't look behind
the closed curtains

10

walking outside
in her flannel pajamas
to start the cold car

11

it's so cold
but still, she orders her
coffee iced

12

fresh snow
falls on
a rotting pumpkin

13

bags packed
car warmed up
ready to go

14

Christmas morning
every tradition comes to life
just us two

15

sweater weather
the candle burns
on the mantle

16

she wiggles her nose.
maybe now,
she'll be able to feel it.

17

the leaves crunch
a little giggle
escapes her lips

18

icicles drip
don't go under
shattered

19

you are the air
i breathe
all roads lead to you

20

farmer's market
with its colorful stands
clamoring voices

21

silent night
presents glistening
under the tree

22

crisp air
hits my face
down the hill

23

following the nurse
down the hall
eyes facing forward

24

hot cocoa
rose tinted eyes
grow fonder

25

I can be alone
I can watch the sunsets
on my own

26

the night sky
her head flings back
yearning for a shooting star

27

out of the ash
I rise with my red hair
and live in the here & now

28

the sting of disinterest
I miss
missing you

29

snow covered fields
last year's corn
peeks through the drifts

30

as the sun goes down
our room shines
more and more

31

texting you
makes me feel as if you
are my daily vitamin

32

choosing to be that flower
that was a blossom
during the gray days

33

shoes left in the garage
playing hopscotch
with melted snow

34

shovels scrape
cement and gravel
more than snow

35

fluorescent light
smoke fills the air
warm all over

36

someone new
in my bedroom . . .
friend or foe?

37

i wish you
would bark at me
one last time

38

a gentle breeze
smoky grill
three strikes you're out

39

freshly baked cookies
stockings stuffed
was I naughty or nice

40

warm and cozy
I watch the snow fall
from my window

41

a pair of eyes,
a button
nose

42

masks go up and down
steam builds on the glasses
the stress continues

43

safe haven of wonder
the candle's twinkle
granting all my wishes

44

took down the pictures
god
nothing here is mine

45

butter in the pan
burning in the pan
fuck

46

typing quickly
from the bunker
will I regret what I said tomorrow?

47

grandmother
and her chamomile tea
reading her book

48

strings won't tune
how long
since I changed them

49

teething black kitten
wrapped around my wrist
a new beginning

50

New Years drunk on your couch
my first time without
resolutions

51

learning constellations
a firm hand on my back
why can't this last forever

52

foggy 4am
my new bedroom
which life am I in?

53

burrowing my head
indents in the couch
fit me perfectly

54

covered from head to toe
layer upon layer
can't feel my toes

55

corner of the room
a heavy dresser
scratching the wooden floor

56

dueling hearts
mirroring rhythms—
unaware

57

slithering snake
moving through the sand
behind me

58

finger in my ear
pulling out
a thought

59

an early snow angel
on top of fall leaves
the last time you were here

60

a humorous obituary
about once upon a time
the usual ending

61

hushed whispers
as i trace your skin
the ice melts

62

slippery hands
lifting each other up
from the window well

63

passing in the hall
           "How are you?"
the flood gates open

64

ob-la-di, ob-la-dah
blue fingertips, slow heart
her sterile smiling

65

a childish youth
her small hand
pulls me out

66

childhood friends
cave drawings on
a Facebook wall

67

pins & needles
she fakes it through
another audition

68

spotlight
stomach churns
act one

69

screaming out
into the dark abyss
still silent

70

skipping rocks
across a pond
it's frozen

71

hat, scarf, gloves
puff coat, chapped lips
I'm somewhere under there

72

horizon of leafless trees
interwoven by powerlines
a crow caws

73

wheezing engine
me too
old friend

74

feeling all the layers
on me
more than the cold breeze

75

running away from
all those places
where your heart is not warm
