to the end

mood-lit restaurant
our anniversary
phone in hand

4

a lone mallard
gently rustles its feathers
embracing solitude

over your shoulder
no one is there

your favorite movie
what was mine

7

roaring engines
grandstands
full of people

pointillism in motion . . .
     snow lazily
         finds the earth

soaking up sun
in our winter coats—
a brief respite

the snow falls

swish of the hoop
yelling children

rotted out house
memories still bright

23

walking slowly
on the cold gravel road
I loop around

24

sinking into the abyss
there is one thing awaiting
a dark terminus

25

all over my
wine-stained shirt
the rain came

26

daydreaming
the warmth
of crackling logs

27

thunder strikes
the wind whispers
lights out

red nose
I head home

to know one
never wanted love

creaky, old porch swing
empty

surround
my grandma’s grave

midnight
a rush of energy
cleans house

35

a new father
tired and beat
hums a lullaby

36

city lights aglow
in the hospital bed alone
awaiting a baby

37

sweet cinnamon fragrance
soft gooey inside
feels like heaven

38

taking longer strides
to avoid cracks . . .
a flood of childhood memories

jean jacket blinged
for a Swiftie

winter's hush upon the pines
silent dreams descend

thunder in the distance
one last cast

crawling into my mouth
throughout my body
