1

the dryer
heats up
a blanket for two

2

dog-earred
I want to return
to this page

3

three in the morning
your name
on my phone

4

the buttered popcorn
and empty seats
will he kiss me?

5

you once
called me
forever

6

there is a mug
on my nightstand
dusty water

7

swirling island cave
a sea dragon rests
underneath the waves

8

January chill
rabbits eat the seeds
next to the doves

9

ample little notes adorn
the diary pages
his name

10

chillin’ with my cat
he purrs loudly
as I scratch his ear

11

the glistening stone
on my finger
a silent reminder

12

x and square
circle and triangle
no time for me

13

mirrored walls
dedication in each one
the gym's heartbeat

14

a couple drinks
with some friends
mind at ease

15

an old porch swing
only in my head
redness sets in

16

stillness in the room,
thoughts are bouncing in my head
meditation at peace

17

Sunday relaxation
the smell of chili
watching football

18

feeling my breath
relentless thinking
put to ease . . .

19

I stare across the table
into what was once
our booth

20

sitting in the parking lot
just the two of us
talk for hours

21

a new spill here,
more laundry there . . .
boulder of Sysiphus

22

I could have stayed up
all night to talk to you
so I did

23

retro roller rink
learning to walk amidst
a flurry of feet

24

hand in hand
they stroll along—
a   skip   in his step

25

last minute
funeral arrangements
roadtrip . . .

26

early morning
cap and gown
butterflies . . .

27

the tv plays
in the background
she writes in a journal

28

reading for hours
she dozes off
favorite time of day

29

around the poker table
no money on the table
still happy

30

found the one
from my childhood
with another man

31

in a thrift store
vintage clothing
brand new to me

32

one on the game
other reading a book
a comfortable silence

33

spring dance
he moves on
to the prom queen

34

start the car
let’s getaway
they won’t miss me

35

from the rafters
the lights
following the musician

36

journal on the desk
with an unmoving pen
my thoughts stirring

37

opening the app
counting the calories
no more wiggle room

38

new year’s resolutions
in a busy gym
everyone watching me

39

kindle book
with a warm cup of coffee
sunday serenity

40

a big bowl
of oatmeal
berries and honey too

41

blackout dinner
new meaning to
blind date

42

stacked weights
clings from the bars
a pain I feel

43

face mask
candle lit
one more chapter

44

grown men
the childlike joy of new
Fortnite skins

45

now that she’s gone
I reside in the gym
change beginning

46

seven quarters later with
no prizes to show for it
just one more try

47

sapphire earrings
and sun kissed noses
I’m miss country club

48

sweat drips down my face
muscles ache
I feel alive now

49

early morning run
for fresh coffee
missed the bus

50

salty ocean air
I sit at a restaurant looking
at red salmon

51

west coast kelp
the octopus
pulls apart a crab

52

watching my little brother
smile at me
a younger me

53

love bombs . . .
the curated lyrics slipping
          into my heart

54

an apple
      everyday . . .
            cancer metastasized
