beautifully aged
around my neck
grandmother's pearls

taking my hand
he draws me near—
“dance with me”

a breathless moment
under the waterfall,
our lips part

his reflection
in the water—
rippled, then gone

longing for his touch
I wait in the meadow—
for midnight

darkened basement—
first rain since
the tornado

broken elevator—

stairs two at a time
to the 17th floor

last night’s dinner
still on the table—
he’s not home

laughter echoes
throughout the halls—
girls night in
