Moon’s Reflection

Full moon above
the old security guard
turns up the heat           K.B.

cold shoulder—
no phone call for weeks           K.B.

New Year’s Day
Polar Bear Club—
the jump            A.Y.

sipping iced tea
at the pool concession stand            K.M.

pulling back the shower curtain
cold tile floor            K.M.

winter night
moon’s reflection
in icicles           A.Y.

Marking Time

harvest time . . .
golden field
dust follows the combine           A.Y.

Turkey Run beckons
two hour drive            R.Y.

suspension bridge rocks
concentric arcs
move toward shore           A.Y.

shoe print
left in mud
twig cracks underfoot           R.Y.

footpath
under Beech trees           A.Y.

gazing up
at the sky
Kingbird marking time           R.Y.

Neighborhood

nightfall
cicadas heard
but not seen           A.Y.

city heat
fire hydrant shower           T.A.Y.

cat in the window
tail switching
as birds fly by           T.A.Y.

porch swing
creeks
I spot the first star           A.Y.

weeping willow
sways           T.A.Y.

lightning bugs
in the warm breeze—
scent of four o’clocks           A.Y
