My haiku collection reflects my personality significantly. I feel as though I am in a period of life where I question significance. I tend to step back from situations and try to relate the experience to the bigger picture. I love nature and not only see a lot of significance in it, but like to relate human experiences to nature.

Much of my poetry involves interaction between significant perons in my life. Because those people are held dear to me, I enjoy having them be part of my collection and influence.

Katie Hill has created a wonderful collection of haiku. I love the way each poem says a little about Katie. Through her haiku I can really sense the kind of person she is. Katie is not the type of person that lets life's beauty go unnoticed. Through her haiku you can really pick up on a high love or perception and meaning. This is what I like most about her haiku. Not only do they paint good imagery, they make me think deeply about a personal experience I have had.

Most haiku that I can relate to do strike up memories. With Katie's haiku I remember little and big details of experiences. I think Katie has put together a very good collection of her original haiku. I really believe Katie has a promising future in poetry writing and I hope to see another collection from her in the future.

distant storm…
our porch conversation
into the summer night

traffic
the midnight moon
silences me

brutal sun on her back
holds no significance
to her passions

Summer vacation
new scenery unnoticed
by fighting siblings

long walk
on the beach
thunder so nearby
