This is my first haiku collection. After joining this global haiku class on a whim, I discovered that I truly love writing haiku. Haiku offers a structured snapshot of a story. It is quick and to the point. That is how I feel about all of the haiku I have written. Every one is carefully written and delivered with love. I offer my haiku as a gift to you. Take them with you and learn to grow. These haiku helped be grow and heal over the course of five months. I hope they do the same for you.

boquet too large
for the ballerina
first recital

my eyes are closed
all i see
the stars that aren't there

beads of sweat
a necklace
like pearls

eyes meet
turning heads
in the produce aisle

as the sun sets
it only takes the day
out of the dream

scribbled in ink
today's errands
on my left arm

asking my favorite flower
he brings me
Gerbera daisies instead

gingerbread cookies
egg nog
my grandma's a racist

late night
dancing around the kitchen
instead of homework

left for the weekend
everything is the same
dishes in the sink

silence
a small cough heard
between fiction and nonfiction

secretly
she nibbles on a cookie
in costume

fixing her necklace
she takes a deep breath & nods
at the accompanist

300 miles away
I still find
dog hair

no reply
the pictures come down
the locket removed
