I hand him a twenty.
brilliant blue,
his eyes thank me


her frail body
curves over his letter
cracked lips smiling


still I wear it.
the musky smell of his shirt
long gone . . .

 

 

 through a puff of breath
               I see
               a fir tree tremble . . .
