Amplitude of Growth

by
Ryan Hosler

I have decided to title this collection as "Amplitude of Growth" because most of these haiku deal with growth in some way or another. In some cases, this may be nourishment and in others it is a loss of innocence. For myself, that is what haiku enjoyment is all about—letting each moment of a haiku be a moment of personal growth as you explore the observations and sensations of others. Thank you for reading and enjoy!

baby birds
gather on the highway
flight school

praying mantis
rests on my front porch
first frost approaches

apple tree bower
bee
hovers near fallen fruit

water ripples
under the Brooklyn Bridge
it dawns on me

ash falls
from the incense stick
scent lingers on

two lily pads
from and fly
sit between my reflection

children lean over the edge
of an old wooden bridge
empty creekbed

firefly field
black widow
eyes her prey
