Three Line Life

by
Becky Smith

As a haiku writer, I may seem negative. I may even seem cynical or depressed. However, I can promise you that is only in my haiku. If you know me at all, you know that I am always smiling & laughing. Maybe someday I will find a way to put that across in my haiku!

I really don't know where my haiku come from. All of my topics are scattered over all areas, and I can't really explain where they come from. Some might say that I write about what I know within family and stress, but then other things are things I'll never understand.

Thank you showing interest in my haiku collection from Fall 2010. Enjoy!

accepting my award
in the middle of my speech
I wake up

cemetery at dusk
our daughter touches
your engraved name

she attempts
to hide her black eye
in the shadows

her only source
of air—
coffee

on her cell phone
talking to no one
just to avoid him

her hands shiver
as she attempts to sign
"Hello"

the moonlight
emphasizes
my father's wrinkles

a gentle kiss—
a father says goodbye
to his first car

a secret kiss
under the moonlight—
my frog prince
