i sleep in
my professor’s tragedy

bronchial networks
inflate my lungs

goose pond
the elderly woman
walks her flock

my face wrinkles
as you talk—
so smelly

saw you in the kitchen
looking for a snack
late night talk

sunlight breaks
an involuntary smile 
breaks, too

cup of tea
fogs up
my phone

tapping keys
before the clock strikes 12
everyone elsel asleep

children splash
wet clothes never drying
in the rain

a coffee spill
darkens the pages
of their scrapbook

frozen pond
traps the fish
liberates the skaters

a blanket of birds
blot the sky
bailing hay till sunset

freezing air
their red cheeks
cool down

two boys
playing jacks
caterpillar pauses

sun tea trickles
over ice cubes
bird bath shakes

collection of floating
twigs; the view from
my bedroom window

floral decorations
can’t hide
cold, white walls
