|
melted snow
racing down the storm drain
smell of a neighbor's grill |
|
|
backyard twilight
eight deer stare when
the back door creaks |
cats
in an old farmer's shed
no machines |
|
|
security cam video
daughters walk to the car
for the last time |
pup see first winter
doesn't need to be told
how to play in snow |
|
|
the same smell
as last spring but
one voice is gone |
snow angels frozen
I look where our hands once touched
just three days ago |
|
|
through the firelight
we kiss with our eyes
an owl keeps calling |
cul-de-sac critters
cloes their eyes
tricycle bells |
|
|
sun tea trickles
over ice cubes
bird bath shakes
|
east to west
cries and howls
to the same moon |
|
|
door opens
after years and miles
she is three feet away |
empty bird feeder sways
the last few seeds
crunch a block away |
|
|
forehead to forehead with
eyes closed and no words spoken
a conversation
