1

morning stroll
cars driving by
waving hello

2

the vast centerpiece
hiding
my plate

3

grandmother wears
her favorite brooch
to lunch

4

a real Christmas tree
not quite
upright

5

the checkout line
stretches for miles
grandpa needs snacks

6

the aggressive stab
of my fork
macaroni gone

7

the collie greets
Thanksgiving guests
at the door

8

chocolate and coffee,
lights dim and blankets warm
the tree glows in the corner

9

sold out Christmas concert
our tickets with a map
of the balcony

10

laughing with my siblings
the long drive
goes by in an instant

11

father snores
while mother prepares
the turkey

12

dripping onto her nose
the rain from yesterday
meets her face

13

split factions
of cornucopias
and Christmas trees

14

Christmas tree ornaments
the oldest ones
near the star

15

the stiff sofa
more comfortable
than ever before

16

uncle drones
on and on
will he ever shut up?

17

her hand
fragile and shaking,
still grips with love

18

small footsteps running
hands joined in a circle
heads bowed
