Haiku

by
Steve Stewart

Coming into this class I knew absolutely nothing about writing a haiku. I enjoy reading them more than I enjoy writing them. I think if I had long periods of quite time to sit and reflect on things, I would be more creative in writing a better haiku. I don't really get much quiet time and sometimes they just aren't coming to me or I'm just not feeling creative at the moment. Writing haiku seems to be therapeutic at times and is nice to just reflect on things that impacted my life in one way or another. I also like to write things that are a part of my everyday life. Here are a few of them I wrote earlier in the course that reflect that.

the clock ticks down
nothing but net
game over

horizon glows
house is quiet
coffee brews

Autumn afternoon
sneezing while
mulching leaves

Fall
t-shirt?
sweatshirt?

brisk Friday night
students cheer for
another touchdown

breathing under water
the deeper we get
the colder it gets
