Twin Tornadoes

by
Izzy Jones

The title twin tornadoes aligns with the first line of my signature haiku. This is probably my favorite haiku that I have written, and I think twin tornadoes are beautiful because it gives a feeling of togetherness and connection while also leaving the reader with a feeling of destruction and chaos. This metaphor relates closely to my sister and I. Moving on, my collection is a random assortment of my favorite haiku I have written over the course of the semester. Many of them are specific to true events in my life or real ways that my mind thinks, but most can be openly translated by the reader as well. Izzy Jones

turkey trot
my brain says that
cancels out the food

late night walk
deep conversation
with myself

morning stretch
giraffe
reaching
for
the
up
most
leaf

twin tornadoes
on the same path
friends again

overflowing
Chipoltle bowl —
i love you

dinner date . . .
turns silent
after the food arrives

walk to the gym
daydreaming
the ice cream that will follow

shrimp tacos
my problems
melt away

dark symphony
ends with fading thunder
dramatic outro

field afeter field
until I arrive
the home that raised me
