The Sudden Stillness

Learning about haiku has changed my perspective on poems. I have learned a lot about how to create haikus, edit them, and simplify them. They have created a different view of learning and creativity to me. In my global haiku class, I have learned to make precise observations, and it causes a pause and shift in perspectives. It forces the writer to say a lot in few words.
Haiku encourages us to listen and observe. When I write haiku, I like to see and hear the world around me and it allows me to become a present listener. This will help me when in conversations. When you listen to others and the small details, it allows you to be present in the moment and not worry about the other noises or things around you. You become engaged and involved in this conversation. Listening and being present when others are speaking, allows you to notice the small details about people and their feelings.
On a personal level, haiku allow you to appreciate the moment. It encourages you to pause what you are doing and appreciate the moment you are living in now. It allows you to see what is beautiful in this world and express your own feelings and feel those feelings for yourself. By capturing those small moments, it reminds you that life carries many valuable experiences which will let you feel the peacefulness around you.
Overall, haiku teaches you to observe deeply, communicate clearly and appreciate the world around you. It brings out the small things in life and allows you to find those hidden gems and appreciate what life has to offer. I think we often look over the good things when we run into one bad situation or problem. It is important for us to se those small things and be grateful for what life gives us. |
