Intertwined

When choosing which haiku to include in this collection I decided to look through all the haiku that I’ve written throughout my time in this class and grabbing what I thought to be the best and the ones my class liked. I then organized them into groups and found that my haiku have been under three categories: love in relationships, love in families, and food. My title for this collection represents the majority of my haiku which are love haiku. I tend to write about my emotions specifically those of love regarding my family and significant other. The word intertwined is included in two of those haiku so I chose it for the name of the title.
In my food haiku I find myself able to smell and taste the food. My mouth starts to water and it makes me really appreciate the beauty of some good food. It is especially meaningful when a special someone in your life makes them for you. The sensory details in these haiku made me feel the need to include them in my collection.
My topic of familial love is also very important to me. I find there to be so many ups and downs in a family. As you grow older your feelings towards them change so much. You also have family members that you are especially close with and others that make you uncomfortable. So, I tried to capture a lot of the different feelings I’ve felt in my family which are hopefully relatable to others as well.
Lastly, I’ve written about my love for my significant other in this collection. She means so much to me and has had a huge impact in my life this past semester. Whenever I find myself unsure about what to write, all roads seems to lead right back to her. Even when the prompt is something completely unrelated I somehow manage to always connect the two. So, I dedicate this collection to her. |
